On Thursday 23 October 2003, Yanni opened the 5th baseball game of the World Series (a major sports event for USA) by playing the USA National Anthem, the "Star Spangled Banner". Yanni was accompanied by Karen Briggs on violin and Ming Freeman on keyboards. Yanni performed in front of 27 million USA viewers and 150 million people from 39 countries.
